BMW steigt aus der Formel 1 aus – Jetzt ist es „amtlich“BMW to Exit Formula One at End of 2009 Season

Die BMW Group wird ihr Engagement in der Formel 1 nach Ablauf der Saison 2009 nicht fortführen. Die frei werdenden Ressourcen sollen in die Entwicklung neuer Antriebstechnologien sowie Projekte im Bereich Nachhaltigkeit fließen. BMW wird weiterhin in anderen Serien aktiv im Motorsport präsent sein. Die Grundsatzentscheidung über die Neustrukturierung des BMW Motorsport Engagements wurde gestern in der Sitzung des Vorstands getroffen.
BMW wird auch in Zukunft in vielen Serien im Motorsport vertreten sein: 2010 wird BMW im Tourenwagensport und in der Nachwuchsförderung mit der Formel BMW starten. Hinzu kommen BMW Engagements in der American Le Mans Series ALMS, bei Langstreckenrennen und im seriennahen Kundensport. Darüber hinaus werden auch die Aktivitäten bei BMW Motorrad Motorsport weiter geführt, allen voran die Superbike-Weltmeisterschaft.
In welchem Umfang es zu einem Stellenabbau in München oder Hinwil kommt, steht derzeit noch nicht fest.The BMW Group will not continue its Formula One campaign after the end of the 2009 season. Resources freed up as a result are to be dedicated to the development of new drive technologies and projects in the field of sustainability. BMW will continue to be actively involved in other motor sports series. The landmark decision to restructure BMW Motorsport’s activities was made at the Board of Management’s meeting yesterday.
BMW will continue its programs in a number of motor sports series: BMW will appear on the starting grid in the touring car series and young driver promotion program in Formula BMW. This will be supplemented by BMW’s participation in ALMS, the American Le Mans Series, endurance races and close-to-production customer sports. Furthermore, BMW Motorrad Motorsport will continue its campaigns, with the super bike world championship leading the way.
